Parents & Team,
Similar to last year, we are asking the team and their families to participate in choosing the wrestlers who are most deserving of special awards. This year, we have special awards in four categories. One wrestler from each squad (A and B) will be selected for each award. Each wrestler on the team should vote for one wrestler from their squad (A or B) who best fits the award descriptions below. To ensure that these trophies are awarded to the most deserving wrestlers, please discuss these categories with your child before returning your vote. Return your vote via the website voting form NO LATER THAN Thursday, MARCH 15 (votes will not be accepted after this date). Comments regarding your selections are welcome and encouraged.

- EACH WRESTLER SHOULD VOTE ONLY ONCE FOR EACH CATEGORY.

- "A" Team Wrestler's vote for "A" Team Wrestler's and "B" Team Wrestler's vote for "B" Team Wrestler's

- List of wrestler's for reference below. If there is a name missing please notify your head coach immediately.

- PLEASE DO NOT VOTE FOR YOURSELF

Outstanding Wrestler Award

This is the team's most significant individual award. It is presented at the end of the season to the wrestler whose excellent performance stands out above others on that year's team. Performance, however, is not the only criterion; as with all special awards, sportsmanship and behavior in general are of paramount concern. A wrestler cannot receive the Outstanding Wrestler award unless his performance is coupled with the utmost in sportsmanship, leadership, loyalty, dedication and determination, unselfish behavior, and outright enjoyment of the sport.

Most Improved Wrestler Award

This individual award is also performance based, but the recipient need not even have achieved a winning season's record to qualify. Because wrestling requires such intensity and focus to succeed, it is recognized that hard work and determination can result in significant improvement in ability, even without defeating one's match opponents. We would appreciate your judgment as to which of our wrestlers demonstrated the most improvement, either judged from their apparent ability last year, or at the beginning of this year. Just as an experienced wrestler can improve dramatically from one year to the next, a novice wrestler can improve dramatically from the beginning of the season to end. Either choice is legitimate. As with all individual awards, however, demonstration of the virtues of loyalty, dedication, determination and hard work are prerequisites for receiving this award.

Best Attitude Award

Stepping back from the performance based awards, the Best Attitude award is exactly as it sounds - this awards is intended for the wrestler whose behavior through the season consistently reflected a positive, motivated outlook, regardless of successes or failures. More than many other sports, wrestling is about attitude, its about not giving up, its about maintaining the drive to prevail even when you're down at the bottom of the third period. Some wrestlers, regardless of their win/loss record, always come to practice and matches with a positive attitude, intent on learning, doing better, and having fun, and their attitude contributes to the overall team attitude. These young men, whether they have a winning record or a losing record, are the wrestlers in contention for this award.

Most Dedicated Wrestler Award

The sport of wrestling helps young people develop important qualities such as self esteem, sportsmanship, work ethic and leadership skills. It also helps by instilling a competitive edge. This award is intended to the individual that is the most devoted to the sport of wrestling. This individual has devoted his time to learning about the sport of wrestling, practicing technique and participating in the sport. A wrestler cannot receive the this award unless his dedication is coupled with the utmost in sportsmanship, leadership, loyalty, dedication and determination, unselfish behavior, and outright enjoyment of the sport.
